Song cover: Chingari Koi Bhadke

Song: Chingari Koi Bhadke

Movie: Amar Prem

Music: R D Burman

Singer: Kishore Kumar

I learnt in the middle of the day that it is Rajesh Khanna’s death anniversary today. I thought of doing a song picturized on him as a tribute. I asked my wife and she said her favourite Rajesh Khanna song is Chingari. So here it is. I don’t remember having ever attempted the song before. So…it’s far from perfect. But I gave it my best shot for what it’s worth.

I recall you saying you were a big fan of the Beatles, so I thought you might enjoy this:

It’s a documentary I watched in a music theory class that analyzes their work. One of the most engaging and interesting documentaries I’ve come across.

The presenter, composer Howard Goodall, also has this other series called the 5 Big Bangs of Western Music. You might like that as well. I know I certainly did.

Thanks a lot man! Think I have seen the Beatles one but not the Big Bangs. I may have seen the Big Bangs too because I remember watching a 5 part series on Western music by Goodall but don’t know if it’s the same one.

That should be the one actually. Glad that you’ve already seen these. Learned a few of my favorites Beatles songs (like Yesterday and Penny Lane) from it.

My dad got a Beatles compilation cassette back in the day (talking early 90s) which was my introduction to them. It had the songs you mentioned as well as Let It Be, Paperback Writer, All You Need Is Love but majorly their early stuff like I Feel Fine, Can’t Buy Me Love or Hard Day’s Night. I’d have never known off that cassette how experimental Beatles in their prime were. I got to Revolver/Abbey Road/White album much, much later.
